Composition.
Procaine hydrochloride 20 mg
Solvent up to 1 ml
Action.
Local anesthetic and moderate central depressor of motor bones, vasomotor, respiratory and thermoregulatory centers, also acting as analgesic, antispasmodic.
Target species. Equine, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs, cats.
Indications.
Against local infiltration pain in throat anesthesia and epidural anesthesia. For general action it is recommended to fight intestinal cramps of vascular crisis, traumatic and anaphylactic shock, urticaria, pruritic conditions, cardiac arrhythmias.
Method of administration and dosage.
For local anesthesia by infiltration, a 0.5%, 2.0% novocaine solution is injected by anatomical layer. Anesthesia on the nerve tract is performed by injecting a solution as close as possible to the nerve that nourishes the area.
In epidural anesthesia, 5-10 ml solution for interventions on standing animals or 10-20 ml solution for animals to lie down.
For general anesthesia, especially in the treatment of colic or warts in large animals, 100-300 ml of 0.5% novocaine is slowly injected intravenously.
Because cats are very sensitive, the solution of novocain can be injected, with caution.
